notraffic1 Want More Traffic? Get More Inbound Links.Creating inbound links to your site is one of the best ways to get traffic to your site. For those of you who already own a website, I’m sure you realize how important it is have visitors on your site. How can you have a successful site if no one visits it?

For many, a majority of your traffic will come from the search engines such as Google, MSN and Yahoo. This is especially true if you have a good amount of keyword rich content on your site. Search engines have also been known to place a high value on the quality and number of inbound links to your site. While there are ways to buy traffic, getting targeted traffic by inbound and back links is much more effective.

A good way to create inbound links is to encourage other websites to link to yours. If you link to a site that you feel provides value to your readers, don’t be afraid to ask the site owner to link back to you. When other relevant sites link to you, this can increase your link popularity. I stress relevant, because junk links won’t help your rankings – they’ll just damage your reputation.

Another easy way you can create links to your site is by submitting your site to online directories. This is a great way to get quality links with little effort and many webmasters use it on a daily basis. If you decide to go this route, be sure to submit your site to DMOZ. DMOZ is a highly respected directory and submission is free. It is hard to get listed in this directory and you may have to wait a long time to get listed. Once you are listed, though, you’ll reap the benefits of increased traffic.

These are not the only ways to gain inbound links to your site. Commenting on other blogs, forums, social networking sites, etc. will help increase your reach as well. Remember, that every inbound link is an entry to your site, which means more chances of visitors finding you.

TIP: For a super-affordable course on how to get serious traffic to your website, check out Total Web Traffic from Dave Nicholson. You’ll not only learn Dave’s techniques, but you’ll also have access to his user forum for discussion. It’s a great deal, and I’m looking forward to trying out a few new things myself. :)
